Transfer website to a different domain name

  I currently have a webpage hosted by godaddy with a 12 month subscription to wordpress site builder, can I transfer my old site and put it under a new purchased domain name along with wordpress subscription?

  Hi there! You sure can migrate your site from a WordPress.org blog hosted at Godaddy to a site hosted here at WordPress.com Here’s the section of the migration guide that deals with that scenario: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-from-wordpress-org

  As far as your domain name, do you want to create a totally new name, or keep your domain name and use it once you’ve moved over here?

  A new name is simple, just buy the upgrade once you’re set up over here.

  To keep using your existing name, that’s slightly more involved, but also not difficult. WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain name transfers. So, you’ll have to keep the name with Godaddy or move it to a different third party registrar. From there you just have to map it to your WordPress.com blog.
