Will you please read this entry first so you are crystal clear on the differences between WordPress.com free hosted blogs and WordPress.org installs? http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You need to create an XML export file of you WordPress.com blog content and then you can import it into your WordPress.com blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

Then you need to follow these instructions as you already have a domain that you registered elsewhere, and you want to map that domain to your blog. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

“Mary Moncorgé – Pro Enduro Racer ” website

What type of a web site was the old site? Regular html site or WordPress.ORG install.

I did not find the site on the web – what type of files do you have from your old site?

    @auxclass
I found this in Google’s cache prior to posting above

I moved back to Europe and forgot about this website (mary-moncorge.com) and to renew the hosting, so I lost the address.

I can still see my posts on my Android but I can’t access them via the my blog page on wordpress.com to export and save them in order to import them back to the other blog

old site was wordpress.org and I’ve not sauvegarded anything thinking I could transfer from one to the other easily

@TT – thanks you be much better finding cache stuff than I am – all I found was a few crumbs and no content

@Mary – first thing to do is register your name mary-moncorge.com – it looks like it has reverted to the wild – you can do that here for $ 5.– or $ 6.– a year

Dashboard >> Store >> there should be a register a domain name – you can also map it at the same time if you want

Your old host might have some sort of backup – might be a charge you for it thing – but worth the try to save the typing and such

Else you are limited to copying from different caches that can be found on the internet – that would at least save you some typing

If you are polite to @TT – maybe we can convince her to give you some cache links since my luck there was very bad – then there is the Wayback Machine that caches some stuff but my luck there has not been so good in the past

Can you at least save the test from your Android? That will save some typing.

@TT and @Auxclass: thanks a lot for your help. I registered my domain name again (at least I’ve that back).
I can copy and past all the text from my Android, I think.

I was hoping to salvage the layout and the pics…

You be welcome & good luck

PS – the layout of the theme would not have transferred into WordPress.COM – that is not part of the xml file referenced by @TT above –

Maybe the pictures are in a cache on the web someplace – they also might be able to be extracted from a backup if you old host keeps files that far back

Google Image has a ton of pictures when I put in your web site name – I clicked through on a couple of them and they look to be on other sites but credited to your site so they might be your pictures so you would still have the copyright and can use them easily – – also you could ask other sites for permission to use pictures they have of you –
