    No it isn’t possible. What is possible is found here https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

    Thanks for the quick response!

    In that case, do you have a recommendation for a place to host a wordpress blog? I had a malware attack on BlueHost and they have been very frustrating to work with… my data is locked up with them. Or, alternatively I can find a place to set up a temporary wordpress blog, import the DB to it, then do the export, then bring it back over here to wordpress.com…

    Again, thanks!

  • Hi @susiewee, would Bluehost allow you to access the site long enough to export it? That’s probably your easiest option if they’ll allow it.

    You’ll need:

    – an XML export file

    – public access to the images

    If you can get that much we can help you import it. Otherwise, you might look into hiring someone to clean the malware off the site for you.

    @supernovia
    Thanks for the follow-up here.

  • Thank you for all your help, @timethief :)

  • I should add, if you’re a very techy user you could turn your own computer into a server, restore your backup there with sql commands, export, then import to a clean installation. You’d have to copy your files over too. It would be a lot of work, even for someone who has done it before and is comfortable with the process. But it is an option. Again, you might be able to hire someone to do that for you.

    Thank you, @timethief ! I did do the export, but I couldn’t find where it was stored and Bluehost couldn’t tell me where it was. Do you know where the XML file is stored by default?

    I ma try the tech option, but I have to set up a different computer. My installation was infested by malware, so I’m afraid to do it on my main machine. It’s just a matter of finding time… ;-)

  • Do you know where the XML file is stored by default?

    Quite possibly in your downloads folder, but you can also search your computer for XML files.

    Also, your images at your host will still need to be accessible for the import to work.
