Transfer wordpress.com subscribers to self-hosted site
-
Hi,
I’d like to transfer the subscribers from http://farout1.wordpress.com to a new self-hosted site (currently at http://faroutmagazine.co.uk/wp but will be http://faroutmagazine.co.uk when active).
Jetpack has been installed and the subscriptions widget is active.
Could you arrange this transfer for us please?
Thanks,

Hi Ross,
I highly recommend waiting to transfer your subscribers until your self-hosted site is fully set up at the domain you want to use it on. This will help avoid any issues that could pop up when you transition over to the active site.
When your self-hosted site is ready to go, you can reply here and we’ll transfer your subscribers for you. Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Hi Rachel – the self hosted site has just been launched! Would you be able to transfer the subscribers for me?
Thanks!

Hi Ross – I noticed that your Jetpack connection is displaying a temporary address on this end: faroutmagazine.co.uk/wp/
You’ll need to make sure that Jetpack is connected to WordPress.com with your actual domain name faroutmagazine.co.uk. Otherwise you’ll have problems later with links in your emails to subscribers.
Please follow these steps:
1. Go to the Jetpack page in your site’s dashboard
2. Click the “Connected to WordPress.com” button in order to disconnect
3. Make sure that the domain name faroutmagazine.co.uk is displayed in your browser address bar and in the Site URL field under General -> Settings
4. Go back to the Jetpack page in your dashboard and click “Connect to WordPress.com”Please let me know when you’ve updated your Site URL and reconnected Jetpack, and I can transfer your subscribers for you.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
In the General > Settings, the Site URL is http://faroutmagazine.co.uk and when you visit http://faroutmagazine.co.uk you see the WordPress site.
The WordPress URL is at http://faroutmagazine.co.uk/wp as it’s not installed in the root directory, but the site URL is just the domain name.
When I reconnected Jetpack to WordPress.com, it still came up with the /wp address – I’m not sure why this is when the site URL is just the domain? Is this going to cause a problem or will it be ok?
Thanks,
Ross -
That was all you needed to do. It’s correct on our end now, so I’ve moved your subscribers. Let us know if you need anything else!
