Transfer WP.com followers to self-hosted site

  I’m considering transferring my wordpress.com blog to a self hosted wordpress.org site. I know you can transfer email subscribers to the new blog with JetPack plugin; but can you transfer wp.com followers too? And do your new posts still appear on wordpress.com reader? If not, then do wordpress.com followers get an email for new posts from the self hosted site? I’m new to this & it’s a little confusing!

  No. Those followers who use the WordPress.com reader will have to subscribe to the new self hosted site.

  And do your new posts still appear on wordpress.com reader?

  No. WordPress.org and WordPress.com are completely separate.
  WordPress.ORG installs are stand alone islands. They are not a part of the WordPress.COM community. There is no WordPress.ORG Reader.

  No. Not unless they subscribe to the new self hosted site.

  Very helpful; thank you! I think in that case, I’m going to stick to WP.com for now since most of the followers I have are in the WP.com community vs email subscribers.
