Transfer your domain away from your current registrar?

Are you looking to transfer a domain name to WordPress.com or you need to transfer a domain registered through WordPress.com to a different host?
-
I bought a domain name a while ago. I have it on site ground…which I think hosts websites. Now I want to develop a website on wordpress. How do I do that?
Are there fees to do that? -
Hi there,
You have two options: You can purchase a hosting plan form Siteground (it’s possible you have one already that you bought along with your domain) and then you use that to install the open source version of WordPress to their servers. That version of WordPress can be found on WordPress.org, and support for the software is provided in those forums.
For using that software you can find many tutorials via an online search and on Youtube, and Siteground might also offer WordPress hosting plans that include support for the software itself.
Or you can create a new site in your WordPress.com account and then point the domain to our servers. To create a new site, go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and follow the steps. You’ll need the Personal Plan or higher to connect your own domain.

Once you have a site with a plan, you can connect the domain here using our domain mapping upgrade, free with all our plans:

You can find a tutorial on how everything works on WordPress.com here:
And all our plans also come with live chat and email support, should you get stuck at any point.
