transfering a domain

  We have a website that we paid an outside company to work on and we aren’t happy with it. We have since hired an in house website/social media director and want to create a new site prior to replacing the other one. I also don’t want to cause trouble with the outside company yet so I’m nervous about transferring the domain right this minute. Can I point to the domain while we build our WordPress site, and then transfer it later? I definitely want to be done with the current host platform and have everything housed on WordPress once we have the new site ready.

  Absolutely.

  I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.
