Transfering account

    Hello – I am trying to transfer my wordpress website from one wordpress.com account to another. I logged in as the original owner of the account and submitted and approved the transfer request to my new account. But the website is not showing up in my new account! Is there usually a delay? I’m worried about my website content, of course, which is ‘traveling’ the internet right now and seems lost! Thank you for any help you offer :) Anna K.

    Here is some information to help you with moving your blog, to another, make sure all the steps are followed correctly, the last step is to provide a confirmation in email too

    Yes – I followed all the steps in order as described in that link.

    The last thing we did was receive the “transfer confirmation” email and click “confirm.” Please advise! Thank you so much!

    I’m really kicking myself for not downloading the site date in advance of this transfer request. I’m so worried my content is lost!

    Hi again,
    Please provide details of the blog you are looking to transfer, provide the usernames and details of the URL if it has a custom domain, I am escalating your problem to the WordPress staff, they should be able to assist you further. Please be patient with us, someone will revert you back soon.

    Thank you again. The blog is jimkeaveny.wordpress.com and the original wordpress account holder is mercurygraphics. The new account holder is chicagobtc. The custom domain name http://www.jimkeaveny.com has already been redirected to chicagobtc.wordpress.com. It is pointing at a static page right now – but I am trying to point it to jimkeaveny.wordpress.com ASAP.

    So just to confirm, you were logged in as mercurygraphics when you initiated the transfer. Is that correct? Did you see any error messages when you tried to transfer the site?

    I’m so worried my content is lost!

    The content on jimkeaveny.wordpress.com isn’t lost, the site is still in the original owners account :)

    Let me know about the questions above and we’ll go from there.

    Thanks so much for looking into this for me. The website has not transferred to the new account yet – even though it was supposed to be instantaneous. I will see about backing it up. I desperately need that account switch over so I can get out of the static page that’s up! Your help is much appreciated. :) Anna K.

    Hi Anna,

    I can’t see any reason why the transfer would have failed last time so it would be good to give it another try. Can you try transferring the site to chicagobtc again from your mercurygraphics account?

    Hello again – please advise! I submitted the transfer request again, approved it again – and it is still not showing in my new account! Now I am unable to login as the original owner! This is really distressing. I thought this transfer would be instantaneous and it’s been more than 48 hours. Please help!

    Hi Anna,

    Thanks for trying again. I’ve been able to move the site over for you manually — you can now switch to jimkeaveny.wordpress.com from My Sites in your chicagobtc account.
