Transfering Blog to new user account

My user name is davejperry I have a blog I set up called sweetbeatrice.wordpress.com I want to transfer that blog to a new user who’s email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff). (preferred user name would be sweetbeatrice or lucynile)
Before I knew about transferring a blog I simply changed my user name and email address to (email visible only to moderators and staff) with user name either lucynile or sweetbeatrice. (can’t remember which).
Having relished that this is not the correct way to transfer a blog I attempted to do it right.
I went to my blog and clicked transfer I typed in (email visible only to moderators and staff) but it tells me “You cannot transfer to that user”
The same goes for user name sweetbeatrice.
I can however transfer the blog to username lucynile but need to make sure it is the right username. Can you tell me if the username lucynile is connected with the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff).

To fix this I basically created a new username for the person. I could then transfer to this new username even though it used the same email address as before.
