Transfering domain

    Hi,

Currently the company I work for want to transfer their Squarespace site to WordPress. I am wondering how we can continue using the Squarespace site while we build the new WordPress. The plan is once we have the WordPress site ready, we will transfer the domain over. Does this make sense?

We need to build the WordPress site but use the Squarespace until WordPress is ready.

    Hi,

    Yes, You can do that.
Continue your Squarespace site until your wordpress website gets ready.
During this period, you can make your website private so that users will not be able to access your site.

Once you done with your wordpress site, you can map your Squarespace site to your wordpress website.
You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit. You can use to either register a new domain, or transfer one you already own, and then you can map as many additional domains to the same site as you want at no additional cost.

For detailed information regarding domain mapping please visit below link

    Hope This Helps.

    Thanks.

  • HI there,

When you create a site on WordPress.com we give you a free WordPress.com subdomain for your site. The site will be fully live at that address and work just like any other website, so you can use that while you migrate your content and get the site the way you want it. Then you can transfer the domain once you’re ready.

Also see here for a complete guide on migrating from Squarespace to WordPress.com:
