Transfering Domain

  I have my current domain hosted with Vista Print. I would like to design a new website and transfer my domain to be hosted with WordPress. Is it possible to design the website on the WordPress platform and not transfer the domain until we are ready to make the new site live? In other words, keep the website live and active with Vista Print, while the new site is being created.

  Hi there,

  That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  map and existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Or even creating a new one:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
