Transfering Domain after Cancellation
-
I am trying to move from wordpress.com to wordpress.org with Bluehost. I’ve already cancelled my wordpress.com account (which I realize now I probably shouldn’t have done yet). Bluehost is asking for an EPP Authorization code to transfer it. Can I still get that? Currently when I try to go to my site, the message I get is “This page is parked free, courtesy of WordPress.com.”
Info from Bluehost about my domain:
Domain: flashlightchronicles.com
Created: April 1st, 2016
Expiration: April 1st, 2019 (58 days)
Current Registrar: Wild West Domains, LLC
Transfer Lock: The domain flashlightchronicles.com is currently locked from transfer (Status clientTransferProhibited).Thank you!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh no! You need to have the domain to transfer it. Cancelling the plan is fine, but cancelling the domain removes your ability to manage it. It looks like it was from this account and the site that it was attached to still exists, so I tagged this for staff to restore the domain name itself.

@klpeters305 we are reaching out to the registrar to see if we can get the domain back for you. The prognosis is good, just it may take a day or so. We’ll update you as soon as we have news. Please leave the site active so we can restore the domain to it once it’s back, then you can go ahead and initiate the transfer.
Thanks for flagging us, @darciemg!

Thank you so much, both to @darciemg and @supernovia! I’m new to this stuff and I really appreciate the help!
