Transfering domain from domain.com

I already own a domain with domain.com and it’s paid for and valid through 2021, once I transfer it to WordPress, am I going to have to pay for both years again?

  • Hi there,

No. The registration of the domain will be transferred to us and it will be extended for one additional year as all our plans include for free one year of domain registration.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for your assistance, sir, I really appreciate it.

When I tried to transfer my domain yesterday, it said that my domain hasn’t existed long enough to be transferred and that I’d be able to transfer it no earlier than Dec. 20, 2019 and that I’d have to map it instead. I tried mapping it and I was prompted to a page with 4 different subscription options. Is there anyway I’d be able to bypass that since I have a domain that’s registered and paid for?

You need to have owned a domain 60 days before you can transfer it here (or anywhere else for that matter). You can immediately map it to a WordPress.com site. As with transferring, mapping a domain requires the purchase of a Personal plan or higher. It cannot be done for free.
