Transfering domain from WordPress to other host
-
Hey people! I just bought a wordpress.com domain this weekend, but have figured out through the help of you guys, that I cannot install a custom theme on this .com platform. So, now I’m stuck with a pretty useless domain that I’ve just paid for. Does anyone know how I can transfer the domain from WordPress.com to some other hosting site, so that I can host a wordpress.org-thing instead? I can be hosted by one.com, but I will somehow have to transfer my domain there.
What do I need to do this? Who do I have to contact or which documents do I have to sign or whatever to make this happen? :) All input on this much appreciated! :)

You can’t transfer your domain for 60 days – it’s an internet fraud prevention rule – however you don’t need to transfer the domain just change a setting and point the name servers to your new host.

Ah, ok, I just found a way to transfer it through one.com, but maybe it won’t work for some time then. Thanks a lot for the link, mate, could prove to be very useful! :)

How do I find my Auth-ID for my domain by the way? I need this in order to transfer my domain, apparently. :)

You be welcome & good luck
Also remember there is a 60 day waiting period after the purchase of a domain name before it can be transferred to another registrar – but you can change the name servers any time.

okay I have a quick question to add onto this, are you affecting your seo stats by switching to a hosted site?
After the 60 day period and you are fully able to move it over to your new hosting site will this permanently eliminate wordpress.com from the equation and allow for clean seo?
While pointing the name servers to your new hosted site, will this cause issues with respects to search engine rankings?
