Transfering Domain Name

    Hi,

    I bought a domain from Wix but want to move my website over to WordPress. I got the redirect code from Wix already, but when I try and transfer it over to WordPress, it’s telling me I have to pay $100 again.

    Is this right? Do I have to pay again?

    Hi there,

    It is not possible to transfer a domain to WordPress.com, but you can map it here. To do this you will need one of our paid plans, but you can also use the cheaper Personal Plan to do it.

    Mapping will also require you to change the domain’s name servers to point to us, and as far as I know that’s not possible with Wix, so you’ll first need to transfer the domain from them to a different registrar before you’ll be able to map it here.

    I wish I could tell you there’s a simpler way to do this, but in this case you’re caught between a limitation on our end and one on Wix’s.

    On second thought, you might be able to point it from Wix to us using IP addresses, though. Please check with them if they allow that, and then let me know and I can provide you with the IPs you’ll need to use.
