Transfering domain name to WordPress.com (not just mapping)

How do I transfer a domain name from a provider like Gandi to WordPress.com? I no longer want to work with Gandi, so I don’t just want it mapped. I’ve looked through online documentation but I can’t seem to find the steps. Thanks!

WordPress.com does not currently offer the option to transfer domain registration to them. (If you want to get away from Gandi, I’ve had good luck registering domains with namecheap.com.)
Regardless of where it is registered, you can still map it to your site at WordPress.com as long as you have upgraded to a paid hosting plan.
