Transfering domain to Word Press or just Mapping it
-
I am designing the web page for Sonshine Elder Advisors. My name is Brian J. Jones, a.k.a., The Middle Man. Ms. Jones has no web presence for her business but has had an account with Wix for the past year. She has four (4) email accounts directly associated with this domain (all Gmail based) and three (3) other emails (also Gmail based) that she uses.
The questions are centered around two (20 things:
(1.) The most and the best for the best cost
(2.) Not losing anything already in place. There is no website up, so there is nothing to worry about bring over or etc. But, her email addresses are very much being used. Therefore, Ms. Jones does not want to create and get the word out for new email addresses.
So, this is where we begin our discussion with you (Word Press and you) … -
Welcome, @themiddleman1234!
First regarding email: whether you transfer or map, we can make sure the settings here are correct so that email will keep working. And, if she bought the accounts through Wix as a reseller, those accounts can be transferred directly to Google if you move the domain here.
Regarding pricing: when she buys a new plan, we offer the first year of domain registration, or renewal via transfer, free. After that, she’ll pay for yearly domain renewals at this pricing. I’m not sure what you’re paying now, but I hope seeing the actual numbers helps.
For what it’s worth, I’d always recommend keeping the domain and hosting with the same company so it’s easier to remember renewals. :)
Does that help? We also have an overview of transferring vs mapping here. I’ll talk to our docs team and see about adding email info to that as well. If you have other questions, let us know!
