transfering existing web site
-
I have a web site that I have been using for years. The web site provider sold it to a different provider and now I do not have access to the software the other company provided. The new company recommended wordpress as a software that I can use to edit my site.

Hi marylhpaws,
The new company recommended wordpress as a software that I can use to edit my site.
There are two types of WordPress:
- WordPress.com: where you create a site here and host it with us.
- WordPress.org: where you choose a third party hosting provider (like Bluehost, GoDaddy etc) and install WordPress.org software there.
We have some more information about the main differences between the two in this guide:
If you let me know which option you think might be suitable, I’ll be happy to point you in the right direction for getting started.

I have no problem with switching my domain since I do not like the new company that my domain was switched to. It is a .com though and I don’t think that it will switch according to the instructions.
