Transfering from Blue host
-
I have a domain secured with Bluehost. I also pay yearly fee for email using that domain name.
I have created a website using WordPress that I would like to use with the domain name. I already know how to connect it, I already know those options, but right now I’m looking at price. There are 2 completely different prices I’m looking at between the 2 companies. Blue Host will link the site 12 months of basic hosting for 131.88. & they connect you with WordPress. WordPress is offering a Personal plan right now for $33.60 a year but I don’t see anything about email. If I transfer everything from Bluehost, so its all in one spot, will I still have to maintain my email through bluehost?? Your pricing is much better, but I don’t know if I will be getting everything I need just by transferring?WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I see that you’ve purchased the WordPress.com Personal plan and added a domain connection to your WordPress.com site. :) I’ll be happy to help you with the next steps.
You can definitely keep using an email service powered by Bluehost. For this, you’d need to ensure your domain has the DNS records required by Bluehost’s email service. You can follow these steps to ensure that:
- Ask Bluehost for the MX and other DNS records for their email service;
- Follow the steps here to add them to the domain on your WordPress.com dashboard;
- When that’s done, you can point the domain to WordPress.com nameservers. (Unless you want to transfer the domain registration to WordPress.com too, which you can do by following the steps here.)
The nameserver changes can take up to 72 hours to take effect. After that time has passed, you can set your domain as the primary address. This will make your WordPress.com site load at your domain without redirecting to the WordPress.com address.
Note that we also have an email service called Professional Email that you can check out. It’s not included with the WordPress.com plan, though.
Feel free to let us know if there’s anything else you need, and we’ll be happy to help. You can also access private support at this link.
