Transfering from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
Hello,
I´m considering transfer my site from COM to ORG. This are the steps i already did:
1 – I got an account for wordpress.org with another dominium name just to test.
2 – I closed it to avoid people or Google indexing it
2 – I export from COM and import database to ORG
3 – I installed a new theme in ORG and i´m making all changes to make it work with my database and needs. Installing plugins, etc… I am not changing anything in categories, post titles or database structure to avoid altering page and post urls.
4 – Now is time to consider the change and i have some doubts:
Will i loose Stats, FB and Twitter counters in every post, or email Followers i already have in COM, when switching to the ORG site?
About the name of the dominium. I want to keep the WordPress.COM dominium, is critical, but now triggering the site in the ORG hosting. Is the “Redirect” option in the wordpress.com shop the option to choose? or maybe the “guided transfer” option that will be available, again, in next january 2014?
Will the process, transfering from WP-COM to WP-ORG will hurt the position of my site in Google or other search engines?
Thanks a lot in advance. Excuse me for such a long post but I´m a bit scare about lossing anything in the process if, at the end, i decide to go ahead with the transfer.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there –

If you install the Jetpack plugin on the new site and you used the import/export tools to transfer your content, we can move your subscribers and stats to the new site. Your Facebook and Twitter counts will be lost, though.

You can move your domain to the new site in this way:
Move Your Domain to Another HostIt doesn’t sound like you really need a Guided Transfer since you’ve already set up your new site for the most part, but you’re welcome to wait and purchase one if it would give you peace of mind.
Will the process, transfering from WP-COM to WP-ORG will hurt the position of my site in Google or other search engines?
It shouldn’t, since you’ll be at the same domain name and your Google results will redirect. If you want your old indexed permalinks to redirect as well, just be sure you pick the same permalink structure for your new site (day and name).
Let me know if you have further questions!

Thanks for your reply Eurello. Lossing FB and twitter counters make me feel a bit unconfortable cos my actual social numbers are nice.. may be I need more time to consider making the jump to ORG… don´t know. I need to think about it. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.
