Transfering from wordpress.com to wordpress.org help please
-
Hi
I had a blog with you (jamespreece.wordpress.com ) on wordpress.com and I had purchased domain forwarding so it appeared to come to http://www.jamespreece.co.ukHowever, I’ve now moved my blog over to wordpress.org and all seems fine. From what I can see it’s all mapped over OK a I’m directly using the domain name.
My question is, what do I with this old blog? Am I OK to cancel the domain forwarding and hide/delete it?
Also, once I close all this will my SEO be OK with the new version of the blog? I don’t want to lose the existing links I had.
Many thanks,
James

If you think you have any traffic going to jamespreece.wordpress.com, you might want to keep domain active, at least just for a while. Because it will forward that traffic to your new site.
But aside from that, there’s no reason to not hide or delete your site. Though I always suggest people hide rather than delete just in case they ever need it again in the future.
