Transfering my blog into website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I want to shift this blog http://www.virarandwest.wordpress.com to fatcow hosting. Right now fatcow is hosting my joomla website http://www.virarandwest.com and I want to replace it with this blog. Is it possible? Can the export keep intact my blog statistics until now? What is the process and challenges in it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

If I understand correctly, you want to move your content from virarandwest.wordpress.com to your Joomla website at virarandwest.com. Is that correct? Are you going to be still managing your content through Joomla?

To your question, if you’re looking to manage your content through WordPress.org software, it’s possible to transfer your subscribers and stats from WordPress.com. However, if you’re going to continue to manage your content through Joomla, it will not be possible to transfer subscribers or stats. However, you can still export your content following the instructions here:

    Export Your Website’s Content

This will generate an XML export that you should be able to import into Joomla. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

No I don’t want the Joomla site. I want to replace it with WordPress, exactly ditto the WordPress blog right now. How do I export the content with stats and subscribers?

    Hi!

First, you’ll need to install WordPress.org software on your Fatcow site. Before doing that, I would make a backup of your site just to be safe. Then, after you’ve installed WordPress.org software as your content management system, you can connect it to your WordPress.com account through Jetpack as described here:

    http://jetpack.me/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/

After you’ve connected the site through Jetpack, we can get started moving your stats and subscribers. Let me know once you’ve done that!

    Hi,
    Did the following
    1. Installed wordpress on fatcow
    2. Transferred the site using export/import feature of wordpress
    3. Installed Jetpack plugin.
    4. integrated it with my wordpress.com account
    5. clicked on Show stats feature in Jetpack.
How do I import stats now? (www.virarandwest.com)

    Howdy!

I went ahead and moved your stats from virarandwest.wordpress.com to virarandwest.com. Please let me know if you need anything else!

  • Unknown's avatar

Wow thankyou so much. Looks like jetpack doesn’t help to display the stats on the site to readers. Any other recommended plugin?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Howdy,

You’re correct – the Jetpack plugin doesn’t offer a widget to display your blog stats to visitors. That’s a great suggestion for the future though! In the meantime, you’ll need to use a separate plugin to achieve that like this one:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analyticator/

Please note, those plugins aren’t created by WordPress.com or WordPress.org folks. They’re created by third-party individuals. In the case of the plugin above, you would need to install Google Analytics on your self-hosted site as well. I’m sorry there isn’t an easier solution!

Thankyou very much. Have a good day!

I hope this issue is not closed yet. Just now installed the google analyticator. But it is not reflecting the Stats brought by jetpack.

    Hi there,

The Google Analyticator will not reflect Jetpack stats. I took a detailed look, and it appears as though there isn’t a plugin that will reflect the Jetpack stats in your widget area. The Google Analyticator plugin will only reflect Google Analytics stats. You will need to setup the plugin following the instructions here:

    http://www.analyticatorpro.com/features/

The main downside is that I don’t believe the plugin will show historical data (only from this point going forward). I apologize!

    Thanks though for the help.

Not a problem! I’m sorry we don’t have a better solution at the current moment.
