Transfering of wordpress.com blog

  Hi,

  I want to transfer one wordpress.com blog of mine to another wordpress.com blog. Please let me know how to transfer the followers and subscribers ? Also, please confirm that in the transferred blog all my earlier blog’s content will remain same. Is there anything that will be lost in the process ? What will happen to the earlier blog ?

  I want to do this because I need to change my blog url. If there is any other simple procedure, please advise.

  This is not simple, it is irreversible, and it does NOT transfer the incoming links or pagerank. You will lose all the SEO and search engine ranking that the old blog had accrued. You can buy a Redirect Upgrade which will take anyone going to the old blog and bounce them to the new one instead.

  The old blog will be deleted.

  Thanks for the reply.
  I am still in dark as to what happens to my followers and subscribers. Do they get transferred as well. Will they still get my posts in their reader tab? What will happen to my earlier blog ?
  Please explain what are ‘incoming links’ ?
  My blog is pretty new with only a handful of posts and 36 followers :) and I don’t think it has been ranked by google yet. Is it not advisable to transfer even then ?

  IF you buy the redirect upgrade, they get transferred.

  Your earlier blog will be deleted and neither you nor anyone else can use that URL again.

  An incoming link is what happens when some other website links to a post on your blog.

  Personally, I’d just create the new blog URL and make a post asking your subscribers to re-subcribe there. Then I’d set the old one private so I had a blog to practice themes and codes etc on.
