Transfering our page from Smartweb/Dandomain to WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi.
Our current solution for our site https://furboaps.dk/ is hosted as Smartweb/Dandomain and we are interested in changing it into a WordPress site.
However, Smartweb is also our webhotel etc., so everything is tangled up with Smartweb.

Therefore I am in doubt whether or not we will be able to transfer the domain to a WordPress site.
Or if we have to build a completely new site in WordPress and transfer the domain name?

I am not sure what the process is, so if you can help me with that I will very much appreciate it :)

I have also contacted https://www.one.com/da/, as this might be our new Webhotel. Here we can buy a solution which includes a ‘1-click WordPress installation’.
I just don’t know what to do first, so maybe you can help me.

    Thx – Emilie

  • Good Morning –

Thank you for reaching out. Yes, we can help you make the transition over to WordPress.com. I’ve looked over the site and don’t see anything problematic to incorporate on the new version with us.

Are there any other features you were looking to add?

Some feedback as a consumer looking at the current site is that I can’t find prices, or shipping information anywhere even after I select some of the variables. We will want to make sure folks can see the prices. It would also be great to be able to visualize the different variables (finishes, sizing, etc) of the products.

Y’all are going to want to use our business hosting plan and use WooCommerce for your store. It’s robust and will provide you the tools needed to grow and operate efficiently. Things like shipping rates and taxes are all built in.

The site is going to use our business hosting plan. That’s what gives you the ability to use plugins (like WooCommerce), it has our greatest storage space, highest level of support from our team, and most advanced customization options.

I know it’s important for y’all to limit, or even eliminate any potential downtime for the site. This is why I’m so glad you reached out in advance. What you’ll do is set up your new site and store on WordPress.com, you can import copies of your content, etc.. Then, once it is all finished, tested, and working well, you’ll connect the domain to actually move the traffic over. This process allows the current site to remain active until the last minute possible.

Does that help? Please ask more questions. We are happy to help.
