Transferred domain and now emails will not work
-
WordPress has zero customer service apparently as I’ve tried for nearly a week now to connect through the chat protal. I pay for professional emails and they will not work. I have updated the DNS records on my new platform that the domain was transferred to, but still can’t send emails. Any help would be much appreciated. This is by far the worst customer service I have experienced as a small business.

Hi there,
Based on the site address (rachelmarie9712.wordpress.com), this is a free site hosted on WordPress.com. While WordPress.com manages the site and the free
wordpress.comaddress, it doesn’t provide email hosting for free (or paid) sites. That means email sending isn’t handled from the WordPress.com side, even though the site itself is hosted here.
If you’re paying for professional email, that service would be with a separate email provider, and it would normally be connected to a custom domain (not the
wordpress.comaddress). Any DNS updates you made would apply to that custom domain, not to this free site address. The best next step would be to:
- Confirm which domain your email service is using
- Confirm which company is providing the email service
- Double-check the required email DNS records (MX / SPF / DKIM) on the platform managing that domain
WordPress.com support wouldn’t be able to restore email sending for a third-party email service, even when the site itself is hosted here.
I hope this helps clarify where the issue needs to be resolved.

I paid for the emails through WordPress.com, managed through Titan. I have the receipts on WordPress.com’s site. I purchased the custom domain through WordPress.com and I then transferred the domain (makrecruiters.com) to another provider and now the emails that were already paid for for a year, do not work. I have updated the DNS on the new provider, but nothing was accomplished.

Hi there — thank you for the clarification, that really helps.
Since you purchased a professional email through WordPress.com, managed by Titan, and then transferred the custom domain (makrecruiters.com) away from WordPress.com, this explains why the email stopped working.
Here’s what’s going on:
- Titan email continues to work only if all required DNS records are present at the provider currently managing the domain
- When the domain was transferred, WordPress.com no longer controls the DNS
- Even though the email subscription is still active and paid, email delivery will fail if any Titan DNS records are missing or incorrect at the new provider
What to do next (important)
You’ll need to make sure all Titan email DNS records are added exactly at the new domain provider, including:
- MX records
- SPF record
- DKIM record
These must match Titan’s requirements precisely — even a small difference will prevent sending or receiving email.
You can find the correct DNS records here:
👉 https://wordpress.com/support/titan-mail/If the records are already present and the email still isn’t working, this will need to be reviewed by WordPress.com billing/email support, since the email subscription is still managed through your WordPress.com account:
(Choose Email / Titan as the topic.)They can:
- Confirm the subscription is active
- Verify the correct DNS values for your account
- Help troubleshoot why the Titan mailbox isn’t connecting after the transfer
I know this has been frustrating, but the email isn’t lost — it’s a DNS connection issue after the domain transfer, and support should be able to help once they review the records.
