Transferring a DNS?

Hi, in simple terms could you please let me know answers to the below –
I have a DNS already with another provider which I have already paid for up to November 2020 and I noticed with other website builders that there is NO transfer fee to shift it across to other website builders, therefore –
1)if I opt for a paid wordpress subscription do you charge me to transfer my DNS?
2)you mention a ‘free domain credit’ does this mean that to transfer my DNS it is FREE?
3)you mention an ‘automatically renewed for another year’ so does this mean that once my already paid subscription with another provider expires in November 2020 that a further 1 year will be added FREE, meaning that there would be no fee’s to be paid for my DNS until November 2021 should I transfer it?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi symistress,

It sounds like you wish to create a site on WordPress.com and use a custom domain you already own instead of a free address, is that correct?

1)if I opt for a paid wordpress subscription do you charge me to transfer my DNS?

Custom domains are only available through paid plans and there are two options for using an existing domain:

    1. Domain mapping
    2. Transfer the domain to WordPress.com

2)you mention a ‘free domain credit’ does this mean that to transfer my DNS it is FREE?

By that we mean, the domain credit included in paid plans covers the cost of adding a custom domain — whether you decide you register a new domain or map or transfer an existing domain.

you mention an ‘automatically renewed for another year’ so does this mean that once my already paid subscription with another provider expires in November 2020 that a further 1 year will be added FREE

Domains are automatically renewed for another year once they have been transferred to WordPress.com successfully. So if your domain isn’t due to expire until 2020 before the transfer, that will change to 2021 once the transfer complete.

I’ll be here if you have any more questions.
