Transferring a domain
-
I’ve been asked to redesign a website, which is currently at another host. How do I get that transferred to wordpress, and, can I create a site that my account can see in the meantime without purchasing the year. She wants to wait until I have it done so she can cancel the other hosting.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
First step is to create a new free site here on WordPress.com. You can do that via this link:
https://wordpress.com/start/site/
It’s fine to create the site on a free plan and free domain for now. Once you have the site you can import your content, set up your theme, etc. We have a guide on moving your content over here:
Moving from a Self-Hosted WordPress to WordPress.com
Once you’re ready you can then buy a plan here, connect your domain, and shut down the self-hosted site.
Note that you’ll need to leave the domain with the current registrar as it’s not possible to move the domain itself to us. You can only connect it here from the current registrar.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.

Hi, I think I have the same problem and at the moment I’m a bit lost with this subject…..
I have a domain and payed already a host with Piensasolutions. I used the free WP theme Harmonic to make a web design and now I would like to transfer all the information to my host using my domain… Is that possible?
How can I make it… I already export an xml file but in my host they ask me for an MySQML / PHP….
I am not really good with computers so please could you explain me how to deal with this issue?
Thank a lot

Do you want the content at your WordPress.com site to appear at the domain you own, or do you want to move everything on your WordPress.com site to a different site at your domain?
If you want the first option, the only thing you need to do is buy a plan at My Site ->Plans, and then add a domain mapping upgrade to connect your domain.
If you want to move everything to a different site, you’ll need to export your content as an XML file and import that to the new site. We don’t offer MySQL and PHP exports on WordPress.com. You can only export your content, not your entire site. So you’ll need to set up a self-hosted WordPress site at the other host first, and install a theme there, and then you’ll be able to import your content.
