I have bought a domain with a different provider and would like to transfer it to my WordPress website.
Can I do that without getting a WordPress Premium account??
At the moment I’m using a free WordPress website. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @lauragrandy,
If you already own a domain registered from an external registrar you can map that domain, to your WordPress.COM site. But you will have to upgrade your account to a paid WordPress.COM plan. You can go with the cheapest plan i.e. the Personal plan if you want.
Hope this helps :)

Thank you! So that means that I can get a ‘Personal Plan’ for now and then transfer my domain from the other provider to WordPress?

You cannot “transfer the domain” to WordPress.COM because WordPress currently does not support incoming domain transfers. Read more about it here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#transferring-a-domain-to-wordpress-com
So instead of transferring you map the domain to your WordPress.COM site. You don’t have to transfer anything.
Read more about domain mapping here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/ -
Please go to https://wordpress.com/pricing/ to upgrade.
If you have any difficulties see what Staff said here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/custom-domain-89?replies=6#post-2882612
You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.

You’re welcome. I wanted to be sure you knew about the order this has to be done in. -
