Transferring a domain

  Hello, I’m trying to transfer my domain – backalleypublishing.com – to a new host but there isn’t a transfer button in my domain manager. Does it have to be unlocked from WordPress’ end first? Thanks very much.

  Hi @backalleypublishing,

  To clarify, are you trying to transfer the domain from elsewhere to WordPress, or from WordPress to another host?

  I’m assuming the former, as I visited backalleypublishing.com, and see a message from Squarespace saying that the account that owns that domain has expired.

  If you want to move the domain from Squarespace to WordPress, you will have to unlock the domain via Squarespace – see this page for details on how to do this.

  Hi there,

  It is not currently possible to transfer your domain because it is almost a month expired already – the domain expired on 6 November. Expired domains can only be transferred up until around 18 days after expiration.

  Please go to My Site ->Domains and renew the domain, and then the option to transfer should be restored.
