transferring a domain

  we are thinking of transferring our domain from ReadyHosting to WordPress. We want to build a more modern website, which wordpress seems to help with. We also currently have our email setup with Readyhosting as well. What is the transfer process like or would it be better to keep everything with readyhosting and just map a new site to wordpress? If we transferred the domain, would there be downtime where both the website and our email doesn’t work? Sorry for not being more tech-savvy!

  Hi –

  Yes, there is always downtime when you move a domain. The domain transfer takes 5 days to complete. During that time your email will be down. The DNS which configures the email should come through with out any trouble, but it’s always good to double check once the process has completed.
