Transferring a Domain from a Different host

    Hey guys;

    I currently own a domain I purchased through a different host, but I’ve really not been giving the website I had there the love and attention it needed, and I’ve recently made the decision to use a WordPress page as my primary website to showcase my written and video work.

    What I was wondering was, is there any easy way (or any way at all) that I can purchase a premium account here with WordPress, and transfer the domain name I own to be registered here as well? I’ve briefly spoken with somebody at my current host, who simply offered the option of altering the name servers – which would mean continuing to renew my account with them, which I don’t want to do. I’d much rather everything be all in one place in my WordPress account.

    It may be worth noting that my next renewal with my current host is coming up on the 10th May. I naively assumed that would mean the domain name would also be released and I’d simply be able to re-register it via WordPress Premium, but I’ve been told that this is not the case and I probably won’t be able to do that.

    Apologies for my complete lack of knowledge here, any help that can be provided is massively appreciated!

    @jestermcduff

    Thanks for getting in touch.

    While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:
