Transferring a domain from GoDaddy.
-
Hi, I’m transferring a domain from GoDaddy. I purchased the domain for a term of five year which expires on May 18, 2024. I’m looking to transfer my domain to WordPress.com. I’d like to know if I will still be able to use the domain for the said five years. Thank you in advance.

Transferring a domain (or mapping one) to WordPress.com requires the purchase of a Personal plan or higher. Wouldn’t it be simpler to map the domain to a WordPress.com site?

As I wasn’t aware that domains could be purchased for 5 years in advance I’ve tagged this thread to ask if a member of staff could confirm if a transfer could be made. -
Thanks for the tag.
When a domain registration has multiple years assigned to it there’s not any way to undo that. So, when you transfer the domain we will incur the 5 year registration. You will pay for an additional year at the time you purchase the plan which is needed to use the domain here. When it’s all said and done, you’ll have 6 year registration period.
