Transferring a domain from GoDaddy to WordPress
-
Does anybody have an idea how can I transfer a domain to WordPress? I have a domain registered with GoDaddy, and I want to transfer this domain to WordPress (I do not want to do a mapping).
There is plenty of information on how to transfer a domain AWAY from WordPress but not to WordPress. I know what steps I have to to on the GoDaddy page, but not in WordPress.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi There,
According to this thread it appears perhaps WordPress.com does not allow incoming transfers: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transfer-domain-to-wordpresscom-1?replies=6
What is the reason for not wanting to do the mapping?

Here’s a more recent thread confirming the same thing: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transfer-domain-to-wordpress-13?replies=2

Hi,
I am having issues with forwarding from GoDaddy. There are 2 options:
1. Forward with masking: I just see my base URL (the domain name), I can’t do permalinks
2. Forward: just redirects to the WordPress URLIf I map it in WordPress and set my domain as primary, I get an infinite redirect loop.

I wonder then, if there’s any way to be able to successfully do it with GoDaddy & WordPress.
What I want is something like:
mydomain.net/2015/03/22/some-title -
To make sure I understand what you’re aiming for, are you trying to leave your GoDaddy site but have a subdomain redirect to your WordPress.com blog? If so have you completed the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/?
Or are you trying to use a WordPress.com blog with a domain you already have with GoDaddy? If so have you completed the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/?
Also keep in mind the changes may take a few hours to take effect.

domain forwarding has some issues as does forward & mask
You want Domain Mapping to make things work well together, at the same time, domain forwarding at Godaddy will need to be turned off.
It can take 24 to 72 hours for domain mapping & changing the name servers – changes to reach the far corners of the internet. During that time access to your web site will be erratic and you will be the last one to see the changes (this is due to caching issues both on your PC and across the internet)

What I need to do (I think) is turn off forwarding at GoDaddy, turn on mapping here, and replace the GoDaddy DNSs with the WordPress ones.
Hopefully that would fix it.
