Transferring a domain from Wix to WordPress
-
Hello,
I am trying to transfer a domain name I bought through Wix over to WordPress but I seem to be having some issues completing the transfer. I requested to transfer the domain at Wix to somewhere else. They sent a code to add to the current registrar but I don’t see a place to put it. Can you help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Your trouble makes complete sense, as WordPress.com doesn’t allow incoming domain transfers. However, you can host your domain name anyplace else, and we’re able to map it to your WordPress.com site.
This link will list some popular domain registrars used by WordPress.com users:

Thanks for the reply!
Wix is asking for an IP address. It doesn’t let me change the nameservers. How do I find the wordpress IP address?

Hey there!
Take a look at Wix’s support page for adjusting your DNS (domain name servers) records:
http://www.wix.com/support/html5/domains/managing-your-domain-records/faq/how-to-add-dns-records-1
It’ll be a more stable connection if you use name servers, rather than IP addresses to map your domain. Our IP addresses are not static, and if they change, they could “break” the connection to your site.
Let me know if I can help further! Thank you so much and best of luck with the Wix-mapping.

Hi Robyn,
Thanks for your help and the link.
Unfortunately, Wix doesn’t let you edit the nameservers or if they do they don’t make it easy. There isn’t any edit button next to the nameservers to change. I’ll try to get in tough with someone from Wix.

Let me know how it goes with them. If they can help, that would be terrific. If not, get in touch and we’ll help you figure out how to set up your site/domain as soon as possible.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Thanks so much for all your help. It is very appreciated!!!!! I can’t tell you enough!!
Wix wasn’t able to help. But that’s okay. I think I’m going to go in a different direction and buy a new domain name, since it was part of the package.

Ok, I’m glad you have a solution, and can take advantage of that new, included domain name. That’s great! If I can help with it, please let me know :)
Thanks so much for following up!
