Transferring a domain from wordpress to my already existing GoDaddy website

  I currently have a website under another domain with GoDaddy.com that I no longer need to use. (domain) I have also purchased a domain here at WordPress to use on a site I was building. What I am trying to do is transfer my WordPress domain over to my GoDaddy website. They will do it but they said I need you (WordPress) to get my IP address and then point it to the website builder. They said something about ‘A Record” anyway, I would like to talk to someone live if possible or a chat. reason for all this is because I want to keep my purchased domain that i got here for my website at go daddy. thank you

  At present, I don’t see any custom domains associated with your WordPress.com account.

  What is the address in question?

  My domain with wordpress when I first started was rescuemesuicideprevention.wordpress.com I then purchased the domain rescuemesuicideprevention.com I made my site private so I am not sure it that is why you don’t see anything. Either way, question IS I want to keep rescuemesuicideprevention.com but transfer it to my godaddy account. Tech support from them said you guys can do that.

  Hi Marcia,

  The issue here is that the domain rescuemesuicideprevention.com is registered to a different WordPress.com user account. In order to transfer the domain, you’ll need to be logged in under that account. Do you remember the account that registered the domain?

  Also, just a note, it looks like that domain was registered at the end of January 2015. You will need to wait at least 60 days past the registration date to transfer the domain. However, in the meantime, you can use your domain with GoDaddy by setting a custom A record:

  Point a Domain to an External IP Address

  You will need to be logged in as the domain owner to do this as well.
