Transferring a Domain I Just registered from Google

How can I transfer a Google Domain I registered to WordPress? Is there any way around the new domain restrictions? They told me I couldn’t transfer to WordPress until February

If you just registered it you can’t transfer it here (or anywhere else for that matter) until you have owned the domain for at least 60 days. If you planned to build a site here at WordPress.com it would have been better to register the domain here too (especially as it would have been included free with a paid plan). As it is you can map that new domain to a site here at WordPress.com immediately. A paid plan will still be required.

  • Hi there,

The 60-day waiting period is a rule made by ICANN, the non-profit organisation that regulates all domain names on the web, and it applies to all domains registered at all domain providers. It exists in order to prevent some types of domain-related fraud, and there is no way for any domain provider to bypass this waiting period.

But you can connect the domain here even while it’s still registered somewhere else using our domain mapping option, as @themagicrobot explained above. Once it becomes eligible for transfer, you can then transfer it here at no extra cost, as long as you haven’t used the free domain included in your plan for a different domain by that point.
