We own a domain that is current;y hosted by BT but operated by Typepad. Over the next couple of weeks we want to move the existing web presence to WordPress and then replace the exisiting content with a new and redsigned site. Is there a simple step-by-step process that we should follow? If so, where do I find it?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi,

Thanks for earlier response. Domain transfer initiated and underway. The content is still on Typepad at present. How do I ensure the existing content remains visible to the world in the short term, as the domain hosting shifts?

Looking ahead, I presume we should follow the html page-by-page transfer guidleines if we want to then import the current content to sue it as a basis for building a new site in WordPress. Or is stuff from Typepad subject to a different set of rules?

Can’t find any specific link to importing content from Typepad, although it was one of the other providers specifically mentioned in your marketing material.

    Is Typepad built on WordPress?

Do you specifically support importing whole site content from Typepad?

  • Hey there,

    Glad to see that’s underway.

How do I ensure the existing content remains visible to the world in the short term, as the domain hosting shifts?

Once transferred, you could keep the domain pointing to the original hosting provider as so not to disrupt that.

The domain can be created under the temporary .WordPress.com domain.

What guidelines are you referring to? Are you able to provide a link?

It’s possible to import using a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/typepad/

Once, we can see the guidelines, we can suggest some next steps.
