Transferring a registered domain name from a web host to wordpress.com?

  We (Hampshire Shakespeare Company) currently have registered the url hampshireshakespeare.org through Network Solutions. We have set it up so this url redirects to our WordPress.com blog, hampshireshakespearecompany.wordpress.com. We aren’t happy with Network Solutions and would like to transfer so that our domain (hampshireshakespeare.org) is registered through WordPress.com, if possible. Network Solutions gave us an authorization code to help with this transfer, but we aren’t sure what the next steps are or if this is possible.

  Hi there,

  I would absolutely love to help you out (for so many reasons. Long time Shakespeare fanatic here), but I’m afraid that we do not accept incoming domain transfers. Our system just isn’t set up for it.

  What you may want to do is shop around for other domain registrars and find one that is just of generally better repute. I usually point users who ask just this question towards this article: http://lifehacker.com/5943452/five-best-domain-name-registrars

  It’s a few years old now, but it is from a third party so we had nothing to do with it. It gives you a few names to check out and everyone seems to come back satisfied when they try out someone from that list.
