Transferring a site from Dynamod to WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi folks. I have two domains (via Earthlink) and two websites on Dynamod for 1) my writing and translation; 2) my Spanish language classes. I have until the end of May to move these sites elsewhere because Dynamod is going out of business. I am pondering working with WordPress. I wonder how I might move my content to a WordPress site with minimum cost and disruption. My sites mostly have images, text, News (a history of accomplishments, articles, etc.), a contact page, and a links page. I do not need a store or to book online. What plan do you think is best for me, and what’s the straightest line from Dyanmod to WordPress?
    Thanks,

  • Hi Dorothy,

Does Dynamod offer a XML export of your site content? If so, you should be able to import that to a WordPress.com site using our importer. If they don’t offer an export file in a format that’s compatible with our import options, the only way to migrate that content would be to copy-paste it manually between the existing site and a new WordPress.com site.

Transferring your domains to us can be done at the cost of $18 a domain (for .com), but it will require at least our Personal Plan to set that domain as the primary domain on your site, that is, to have visitors to the site see the .com domain rather than the free example.wordpress.com address we provide you when you create your site.
