Transferring a site from GoDaddy to WordPress

  Currently I have a site that is hosted through GoDaddy. I have also purchased domains through them. I am starting to re-design my website and want to start using WordPress to design and host my site. How does this process work? There are several sites that are linked through GoDaddy. I wasn’t the one that set them up. I would just hate to try and switch and mess everything up completely.
