transferring a site to wordpress

    I am having someone develope a site and have been told that to transfer the site to wordpress i have to have a purchased package for all of the plugins?

    is this true? as my site is not for business purposes

    Yes, that’s true. In order to use plugins on the managed hosting environment that we offer at WordPress.com our business plan is required. See here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Understand that there’s 2 different versions of WordPress. What we do here at WordPress.com is different from using the open source WordPress.org software. With that option, it is truly free, and you can use plugins. It’s more technical to maintain and you’ll need to provide your own hosting and your own tech support with the site.
