Transferring Administrator Role
-
Hi – My business website (not associated with my personal account used here) was previously managed by a paid web designer. She designed the site and kept tabs on updates for the past 6 months as the admin while I was given a content editor role while I learned how to use WP. However, she has fallen off the face of the map! She’s become extremely unresponsive and emailed us to say she’d gotten a new job.
She hasn’t transferred her administrator role to us, and I am unable to make necessary updates.
Is there any way for us to gain control and remove her from the admin position? Otherwise, we’ve paid for a website we can’t use!

Hey jennib1865,
Just ask your web designer the login details of her admin account. Only an Admin can change the user roles.
Will you please provide the link to your website?

Hi there,
We are not able to help in a case like this. We consider the owner of a site to be the account that created the site, and we will not transfer ownership of the site to someone else under any circumstances.
The only way for you to become owner is if the current owner transfers the site to you, so please ask her to do that. She can follow these steps:

Obviously, if asking her to do it were an option, we would have used that route. However, since we had asked her multiple times and it wasn’t done – we went about it in another way.
I took care of it – after posting here.
