Transferring an already established site to WordPress?
-
Hi there,
I currently have an established website through a paid Wix plan. I have recently gained interest in starting up with a paid WordPress account instead, however I’m not sure what is involved in transferring from Wix to WordPress while retaining the design, data, even the blog and it’s content, or if this is even possible? Do I have to start from scratch?! I’d like it to be as simple as possible without losing any info or data (such as likes on blog posts, etc).
Thanks for your help

Hello,
I’m not sure what is involved in transferring from Wix to WordPress while retaining the design, data, even the blog and it’s content, or if this is even possible?
Once you have created a site on WordPress.com, you can choose a plan:

If you want to import your content, you will need an .xml file. The import process is explained here:
The design you are currently using on Wix can’t be transferred to WordPress.com so you will need to choose a theme. Our Theme Showcase has hundreds of free themes to choose from:
If you already own a domain you can ‘map’ it to your WordPress.com site with Domain Mapping:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan, such as the Personal plan. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which you can use to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).
I’d like it to be as simple as possible without losing any info or data (such as likes on blog posts, etc).
it won’t be possible to transfer likes from your posts on Wix to WordPress.com.
Let me know if you have any questions.
