Transferring Blog to Company Website

  I need to transfer http://baldwinaviation.wordpress.com/ to http://www.BaldwinAviation.com. Essentially I want to manage our blog via WordPress, but have the content appear on the company site. I see that WordPress offers a guided transfer, but need more information regarding how the process works.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Here’s a brief summary of the process require to move your content.
  WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate.
  http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  1. Hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/

  2. Set up a WordPress.org install and equip it with a theme and plugins.
  http://wordpress.org/themes/
  http://wordpress.org/plugins/

  3. Export your content out of your WordPress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ and import it into the install.

  4. Purchase a site redirect upgrade from wordpress.com
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ or if you have domain mapping then update the nameservers http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/

  5. Transfer subscribers and stats. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/

  6. Set WordPress.com blog visibility to private so you have a backup blog Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  As you will note the first two steps I posted will not be required as you already have web hosting and a site set up with a theme. If you have more questions about the Guided Transfer please type modlook into the sidebar and Staff will then answer them for you.

  You have a couple of options – you can map your existing blog here to .BaldwinAviation.com. as a Sub Domain – i.e. blog.BaldwinAviation.com. – then you manage the blog here the same as always

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

  You can also install WordPress.ORG software on your web site and transfer the content to there (Export from here import to web site install) – you would then use the WordPress.ORG software interface ti manage your blog – but you would be completely on .BaldwinAviation.com. – the Dashboard looks the same with a few differences (hard to see actually)

  Not sure if the Guided Transfer would be available moving to .BaldwinAviation.com. since the transfer only goes to certain hosts – you would need to ask or hire someone to make the move for you if you are not comfortable to move the site
