can you tell me if I transfer my free blog to a .com one can I still change the theme as often as I like as I currently can? Will you also be able to transfer my followers and their comments on my free blog when I export my free blog to a paid one or will these get lost?

When you purchase a domain via a domain mapping upgrade your content is not moved. Your content stays exactly where it is. All that changes is the URLs and your visitors are seamlessly redirected from the original .wordpress.com URLs to the same content under the new domain URLs.

hi thank you for such a speedy response, I already have a couple of blogs but want to rename the blog name which I thought I couldn’t do, I thought I had to export one blog to the other is this not true?
Basically what I would like is:
to move all mu content from current existing free blogs to a new blog name which I already have
new blogto potentially be a paid blog i.e. I purchase it
I want to know if the new paid blog still lets me change my themes same as free blog allows me to or am I stuck with the one I initially chose?
I want all my current followers of blogs to move to new named blog
I want all comments for posts to move to new blog
It would be helpful if you could answer each question listed above seperatly so that I can decide what to do and how – it’s important my audience follows me, all that changes is the name of blogmany thanks for all your time and input

You are still talking about moving content and that is not required.

The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General

That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed.You cannot edit any URL. If you want to change the blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so then you can change the URL by using this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Before you do that be aware that is does not matter what any underlying .wordpress.com blog URL is when you are domain mapping . It does not have to match the domain URL. Look closely at the image to find the correct My Blogs location

Note that both changing a URL or deleting a URL are permanent and irreversible actions. -

When you purchase domain URL, and still have your blog hosted by WordPress.COM, nothing absolutely nothing at all changes except the URLs.

What would be helpful is if you would clearly state what the URL is for this blog that you refer to ” a new blog name which I already have“. Then I would know if you actually have a domain URL that you purchased or if you are referring to just another .wordpress.com blog address.
