How do I transfer my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org ? The tutorials aren’t helping and nothing is working.
My blog is hosted on GoDaddy and I cannot do what I would like to without transferring it and I cannot find helpful information anywhere – the tutorials don’t work and are very complicated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m happy to help you out with this. There are a few different portions to moving your site. Let’s go through them one by one:

First, have you installed WordPress.org on your hosting service? If you haven’t instructions can be found here:

    http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/834/installing-wordpress-on-your-hosting-account

Next, you’ll want to change the name servers on your domain to point to your GoDaddy hosting instead of to WordPress.com. Currently, the name servers read like this:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

You should have specific name servers from GoDaddy.

You will need to login to your registrar (GoDaddy as well I believe) and change the name servers to point to GoDaddy instead of WordPress.com. This way, your domain will now load the blank slate we just setup by installing WordPress.org.

Finally, it’s time to get your self-hosted site populated with content! You can do this by exporting your content from WordPress.com and importing it to WordPress.org as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/export
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/import

It looks like you’re using Fiore for your current theme. The great news is that this theme is available for free for your self-hosted site! You can download it here:

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/fiore/

Just click “Download Fiore for your self-hosted WordPress site.” on the right-hand side.

On your self-hosted site, navigate to Appearance -> Themes and follow the instructions there to upload the theme to your site.

Once that’s all done, you should have all of the content and the theme setup. Please let me know if you need any help along the way!

    Hey,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

My problem is that I can’t seem to download wordpress.org on GoDaddy, I tried the instructions you sent but there is no “Web Applications” section, I think this tutorial is for an older version of GoDaddy.

Is there another way of doing this ?

I feel like I’ve tried absolutely everything :(

[also tried for the different hosting panels, none of them work – there are no tabs for:
    Web/Classic – Popular Apps
    Linux – Web Applications
    Windows – Applications

    Hope that makes sense]

    Hi there,

Hmm – that’s odd. Since I don’t have access to your hosting panel, I’m a bit limited in how much I can help for the install. Could you try to contact GoDaddy support and ask them how to install WordPress.org software on your hosting service?
