Transferring Domain

  Hi,
  We are wanting to build a website through WordPress but in the meantime hold on to our domain with our previous design through wix.
  Can we build our wordpress website then transfer the domain at a later date?

  Hi there,

  You can build a website using free plan of WordPress.com. You can choose domain ending with ‘WordPress.com’ , ‘home.blog’ , etc. These are free domains which comes with free plan.

  Once you completely built your site and want to use your current domain for it then you can transfer the domain or map it here at WordPress.com

  Domain Mapping –
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan to map or transfer domain you already own.
