transferring domain

    We already have a website and want to change it because the format is cumbersome and we have to pay a company to make changes. I want to see if the wordpress format will work for our organization before making a decision to transfer over to wordpress. Can I play around with creating a website without transferring. If I create a new domain can still transfer this in future.

    Hi, sure thing. You don’t even have to buy a domain — you’re welcome to use a free subdomain, with or without a plan.

    I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

    Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain to the new site.
