transferring domain

  I have my blog on Typepad right now with my own domain. I want to move over to WP but not move my domain name until I am ready to transfer. How do I set-up my WP blog {business} w/o moving my actual domain name until the last second?

  You can start with a free wordpress.com website with a subdomain example.wordpress.com
  Use the free site to build your site and experiment with WordPress. You can also upgrade the free site.

  You can get the free site here.

  https://wordpress.com/free/

  Once you are ready you can move your domain to WordPress. Keep your current domain and hosting until you are ready to transfer to WordPress.

  @mjmaterazo, in case it is not clear from the reply above, you can keep using the free .wordpress.com subdomain and only map or transfer your custom domain when you’re ready.

  You can also map the domain when purchasing the plan but let the nameservers pointing to the original site until you want to go live with the new site.
