Transferring Domain

    Hey! So I am looking to transfer my domain to a new site as I am doing a redesign, but my business still needs the original site to be up until the design is finished on WordPress.

    Will transferring the domain affect the up time of the existing site or will it be delayed until the new one is ready to go? Thanks!

    Hi! Not at all — when you transfer the domain, the new site won’t go live until you choose to use our name servers. That should buy you time to set up your site as you like, then point the name here.

    As soon as you do that, I recommend closing the old site with a maintenance message, since it may take the internet a few hours to forget the old DNS location.
